First-ever devastating hunger level recorded in Haiti

In the city of Cite Soleil, an urban neighborhood in Port-au-Price, Haiti, hunger has reached a terrifying level, which is the highest value of five according to the Integrated Food Security Stage Classification (IPC).

According to the most recent IPC analysis, a record 4.7 million are experiencing acute hunger.

This includes 1.8 million in the crisis phase (IPC4)

In the very first instance in Haiti, 19,000 people are ravaged

Food security is also declining constantly in rural areas.

Many people go between an emergency (IPC 3.) to the emergency Phase (IPC 4)

The loss of crop due to sub-par rainfall as well as the 2021 earthquake that devastated areas in the Grand-Annes, Nippes and Sud departments.

These are among the aftermathshocks that have made the problem more difficult.
