Farmers' union: Agriculture bill halfway to the finish line

The Farmers' Union in Wales has provided comments on the recently-enacted Agriculture Bill.

It can be said that the legislation's overarching component is half the way to providing stable ground for the future of agriculture in Wales.

Yesterday, Minister for Rural Affairs Lesley Griffiths presented the first draft of the Bill and supporting documentation to the Senedd.

Glyn Roberts, President of FUW, spoke after the publication and said:

"The first ever Agriculture Bill for Wales was laid.

This gives us the chance to create farming policies that could really benefit all those who live and work in Wales.

The Bill will provide the framework legislation for Wales and bring about the most significant change in Welsh agriculture since the UK joined the EU.
